Mourinho coy over Rooney as China speculation swirls

SAINT-ETIENNE, France - Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was coy on questions about Wayne Rooney's future on Tuesday amid British media reports that the striker is closing on a move to China.

The 31-year-old England international's lack of game-time at United has fueled speculation in recent months that he could be tempted by a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League (CSL).

The Sun newspaper reported on Wednesday that Rooney has been offered around $1.2 million a week by an unspecified CSL club, adding that a deal could be concluded before the Chinese transfer window shuts on Tuesday.
