Job discrimination against women must be tackled
The second-child policy, adopted at the beginning of last year, has produced satisfactory results and won support from society, but new problems such as discrimination against women in employment should be addressed, Fu Ying, spokeswoman for the fifth plenary session of the 12th National People's Congress, said on Saturday.
She noted that job discrimination has become a more serious problem for young women since the implementation of the new policy.
Fu cited the case of a woman who was recently rejected for a job, even though she was qualified, just because the company's human resources manager was afraid she might choose to give birth to two children, which means longer maternity leave.
