Expansion plan positions BeiDou as goto navigation network for Belt and Road nations

China plans to expand its BeiDou navigation satellite network to cover countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative by the end of next year, it has been revealed.

Six to eight satellites are expected to enter orbit this year, according to Yang Yuanxi, the system's deputy chief designer.
