GDP expected to top 80 trillion yuan this year, NDRC chief says
China's GDP is expected to exceed 80 trillion yuan ($12.08 trillion) this year, with a growth rate possibly higher than the annual target of around 6.5 percent, the chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission said on Saturday.
It means the annual growth from last year will reach more than 6 trillion yuan, an increment as large as a medium-sized developed country's GDP, and would also be higher than any annual added amount in the past five years, NDRC Chairman He Lifeng said at a news conference at the 19th CPC National Congress.
China has contributed more than one-third of global economic growth on average each year since 2012, making it the world's largest contributor, he said.
