The Internet Media Research Center has compiled The United States' Surveillance Record of China and Other Countries across the World under the authorization of the Office of the Central Network Security and Informatization Leading Group and the State Internet Information Office.
According to a report by China National Radio (CNR), in the newly-published book eighteen experts expose the surveillance conducted by the U.S. The NSA surveillance scandal highlighted that China was the major victim of PRISM, the global cyber surveillance program conducted by the United States.
The United States has been conducting mass cyber attacks, surveillance, and hacking targeting Chinese government offices, organizations, enterprises, universities and the network backbone of Chinese telecommunication companies. The United States also conducted surveillance against Chinese state leaders, netizens and mobile phone users.
The U.S. secret surveillance activities directed against China and other nations include:
-- Collecting nearly 5 billion mobile phone call records across the globe every day
-- Spying on German Chancellor Angela Merkel's cell phone for more than 10 years
-- Plugging into the main communication networks between Yahoo's and Google's overseas data centers, and stealing the data of hundreds of millions of customers
-- Monitoring mobile phone apps for years and grabbing private data
