Photo taken on Sept. 2, 2014 shows the Labrang Monastery in Xiahe county of Gannan Tibetan autonomous prefecture in Northwest China's Gansu province. The Labrang Monastery, a major Tibetan Buddhism monastery in China, is undergoing the largest renovation programme since its establishment in 1709. The renovation, which started in April 2013, is intended to replace stone and wooden structures within the monastery that had been worn down by the years. The Labrang Monastery remains open to the public during the renovation programme. It will make an application for the listing of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites at the end of the whole renovation, which takes at least another four years.[Photo/Xinhua] |
