Under the baton of conductor Hu Yongyan, the EOS Repertoire Orchestra showcased classical symphonies from such celebrated composers as Tchaikovsky, Johann Strauss II and Sarasate at China World Summit Wing during the New Year concert on the first evening of 2015.
Born in Shanghai, the Chinese-American Hu is the third generation of his family to follow an artistic career. His grandfather taught him to play the violin and his parents both played in the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. He began his formal studies at China's Central Conservatory of Music, after which he studied at Yale University and received his master's degree at the Julliard School. He is now the Artistic Director of the EOS Repertoire Orchestra.
