Five performances will be staged at the Cultural Palace of Nationalities Theatre from Jan 24 to Feb 4 during the Spring Show Season of the New Year, according to a press conference held by the theatre in Beijing on Jan 6.

The programs will include the Dance of Dehong - fantastic local music and dance of the Dai ethic group inhabiting northern Yunnan, the 2015 Vocal Concert of Chinese prestigious artists’ masterpieces and a special crosstalk show of Xiha comedians’ new programs. (XiHa is a group of 30 crosstalk comedians born after the 1980s, popular among the young for funny parodies and brilliant one-liners of current affairs with catchwords and internet slangs).

Apart from traditional Chinese performances, shows by overseas artists are also planned: the concert of the fantastic Scotland bagpipe band the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, and another two concerts - Splendid Harmony and The Night of Rose by famous Chinese tenor Ding Yi and Australian soprano Lorina Gore.

On Feb 13 and 14, two concerts by Ding Yi and Lorina Gore will offer audiences a romantic gift for Valentine’s Day. The concerts’ theme is “immortal love”. Fascinating love stories from three generations will be told through a fusion of classic, romantic and popular music and folk songs. Also, Gong Shuang, the leading figure of new Chinese folk song and Zhang Xin, the second-prize winner of Star Avenue, CCTV reality show, will be the guest singers. At the concert, Gore will sing Tian Mi Mi and Zai Shui Yi Fang two classic songs of Deng Lijun, in Chinese to create a fresh audio-visual feast for the audience.
