Sci-fi movie 'Three-body problem' starts shooting

Shooting has begun for the much-anticipated Chinese sci-fi movie "Three-body problem."

Director Zhang Fanfan made the revelation on his weibo account.

Film "Three-body problem" is adapted from Chinese sci-fi writer Liu Cixin's trilogy by the same title.

In the trilogy, the entire solar system is flattened into two dimensions in an apocalyptic battle between humans and aliens.

Zhang Fanfan, who is known for directing mystery films, will be joined by writer Liu Cixin on the set as a consultant and executive director.

The first installment of the series is set for release next year.
