A TV documentary on China's relations with Europe premiered at the European Union headquarters in Brussels on Tuesday.

Covering the past few decades over which diplomatic ties between the country and those on the Continent were established, The Crossing Portrait: China and EU, shows 40 individual stories from China and 19 European countries reflective of connections in politics, diplomacy, economics, culture, science, education and other fields.

The series has been produced by China Central Television's French channel, which was launched in 2004 and now has 30 million viewers. Portrait Croises, Chine-UE is the French title.

"The documentary tells us about the communication and exchange of ideas between two civilizations through those faces that experienced (the historical moments)," Liu Yandong, China's vice-premier, said at the Brussels screening.
