The Armies of the Night

Author: Norman Mailer

The Armies of the Night is a nonfiction novel written by Norman Mailer. Published in 1968, the book won the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-fiction and the National Book Award in the Arts and Letters category. The book deals with the March on the Pentagon (the October 1967 anti-Vietnam War rally in Washington, D.C.), as well as his subsequent arrest and night in jail.

What they say:

"The Armies of the Night is witness to a victory...Here, in this extraordinary book…all the facets of Norman Mailer, man and artist, settle momentarily into place; and we sense, as he senses perhaps for the first time, Mailer whole and in place."
