Ten shows from Shanxi province will be staged in Beijing until Nov 1 to underscore the theme of the Chinese Dream. This follows a recent trend of presenting stage performances of different provinces in Beijing. The shows include dramas, musicals, dances and operas.

Eight of the 10 shows are adapted from real life stories.

Some of them combine folk arts that have long been popular in Shanxi province, such as shadow plays and puppet shows.

Drama Life Song tells the story of a family in Shanxi province that went to work in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and how two generations of the family devoted their lives to helping people in the area.

Musical Spark tells the story of a hero-like figure Gao Junyu who devoted his life to helping set up the Communist Party in the 1920s and organize students' and workers' to demand their rights.

Liu Yingkui, a senior official of the Shanxi provincial government, says that the shows reflect the fighting spirit of Chinese people and their consistent pursuit of their dreams.
