Dancers from Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal
Since its creation in 1972, Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal has continued to grow with all the energy and spirit of exploration. It works with some of the most prestigious figures in the world of dance and contemporary ballet, and remains faithful to an aesthetic form of dance, which can also have an uplifting effect on the soul.
In Rouge, the director uses traditional "Amerindian" music, and sets the whole performance with themes of confrontation, the clash of cultures, power struggles between the dominant and the dominated, and what it means to belong to a community.
Night Box is a high-voltage work in which love, loss, sexuality and joy are intertwined. According to choreographer Wenwei Wang, it is about people and everyday life through body language, energy, relationships and emotions, reflecting the world in which we are living.
Kosmos is a dance based on clear movement, where a mingling clan of dancers to come to terms with the presence of others. It searches for a counterbalance, bringing beauty to the fore and turning frenetic movement into a dance that brings people together in a joyous, liberating fashion.
