La Chauve-Souris
Dancers from National Ballet of China and Vienna State Ballet
Premiered by Ballet National de Marseille in Monte Carlo in 1979,the two-act La Chauve-Souris was choreographed from an opera of the same name by Roland Petit. Its Chinese debut was made last September by the National Ballet of China at Tianqiao Theater. Manuel Legris, noted French dancer who took the reins of the Vienna State Ballet in 2010, was invited to play the leading role.
This time, the National Ballet of China will perform with the Vienna State Ballet to impress the Beijing audience. In addition, Zhu Yan, principle dancer of the National Ballet of China and the female leading role of La Chauve-Souris, will celebrate her 20th anniversary of engaging in ballet through her performance on December 21.
