Chinese sci-fi novelist Liu Cixin wins Hugo Award

Liu Cixin, a Chinese sci-fi novelist, made headlines in Chinese media after winning the highly prestigious Hugo Award for his sci-fi novel The Three-Body Problem in August.

Liu has become the first Asian author to win the award, which is considered as an "Oscar" in sci-fi circles. The Three-Body Problem also made the shortlist of another top science-fiction award, the Nebula.

Coloring books for adults a hit

Coloring books for adults as a way to release stress have swept China this year. The books that started the trend was the Secret Garden series by Scottish illustrator Johanna Basford. It has been popular among Chinese readers on all major online bookstores since a Chinese version of the book came out in June.

The overall sales of the book ranks number one on Amazon for the whole year, according to the 2015 bestseller list released by Amazon China on Dec 10.
