Women in China now enjoy more political freedom compared to their predecessors before 1949. Female deputies actively express their ideas and give suggestions at the annual meetings of the National People's Congress and National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (two sessions) . During the two sessions in 2016, these deputies made their presence felt again.
