On Mar 26, 2016, "Silu Xinyun" (the New Silk Road) series of cultural events were held in Cairo, Egypt to mark the China-Egypt Cultural Year.
The performance started with a Chinese silk dress fashion show. Seven models presented Chinese silk dresses, designed to recall the blue and white porcelain style, and represented the oriental beauty of silk clothes. Chinese artists also performed Erhu, dance and acrobatics, which were well received by the Egyptian audience.
An exhibition on the theme of the Silk Road was also held before the performance. 54 suits of Chinese traditional silk dress were exhibited, presenting audiences with a vivid history of the ancient Chinese Silk Road. As a part of the series of events, the exhibition not only helped enhance people's understanding of the two countries' history, but also their cooperation in the future.
The visiting Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong visited the exhibition and attended the performance.
