The site of Xanadu Museum officially opened to public at Zhenglan Banner, Xilin Gol League in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on May 1, according to local authorities.
The museum is built on the site of the remains of the old capital of Mongolian Empire, and it was originally constructed in 1256.
The 36th World Heritage Convention included the site on the world heritage list on June 2012.
The museum spread over 6,991 square meters includes an exhibition hall, cultural relics storage house and archives management hall.
What's noteworthy is that the museum has maintained the original natural landscape of the surrounding areas of the site.
