Belgium boasts of its time-honored glass art. As Roman Empire prospered, glassblowing technique spread from Italy, its birth place, to the rest of Europe. It was not long before Italian glassblowing technicians left for Belgium in droves and built factories there. At the turn of last century, Belgium became an important art center, thanks to the rise of new art, including glass and painting. Besides, buildings featured with streamlines and glass materials were one of urban characteristics.
