This was the first time that Chengde organized such an event for the Banjin Festival. The aim is to carry forward traditional Chinese culture and virtues, as well as to enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the local people.

A wide range of cultural activities with traditional Manchu flavor were held during this festival, including painting and calligraphy exhibitions and a beauty pageant for "the most beautiful Manchu princess".
