China-Nepal Friendship Painting Exhibition kicks off in Kathmandu

A two-day China-Nepal Friendship Painting Exhibition kicked off in Kathmandu on Thursday to strengthen the bond between the peoples of the two countries through art and culture.

The exhibition entitled "Buddhist Meditation in Paintings" organized by the China-Nepal Culture Exchange Center was inaugurated by renowned Nepali cultural expert Satya Mohan Joshi, who is also known as "litterateur of the century."

More than 40 paintings of Chinese artist Shi Tongsheng, who has been given the title of Abbot Master, has been featured in the exhibition held at the Nepal Art Council.

Li Bo, chief of the China-Nepal Culture Exchange Center, told Xinhua "We have organized this exhibition for the first time in Nepal to exchange and promote art between the two neighbors."

The exhibition also aims to contribute to the Belt and Road Initiative which is expected to boost development and prosperity of many countries including Nepal.

The exhibit showcases a diverse range of paintings by the 47-year-old artist, who comes from China's Hebei Province.

The exhibition which has also displayed some Chinese ceramic products will conclude on Friday.
