New panel to promote art and science
Art and science play a vital role in society, making people to think and to create. And in a fast changing world, art and science are even more crucial.
This is why a science and art committee was founded on Tuesday by the International Scientific Exchange Foundation of China in Beijing along with Tsung-dao Lee, 91, a Chinese-American physicist and Nobel-prize winner.
The committee brings together dozens of leading scientists and artists from home and abroad, including architect Wu Liangyong and Xu Jiang, the dean of the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, in Zhejiang province.
The committee announced a detailed program, including the launch of an international science and art week, the Tsung-dao Lee Science and Art Awards and a creativity fund to sponsor scientific and artistic projects. A science and art museum is also in the works.
