A seminar titled The Road of Chinese Modern Art was recently held at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing, and presented fruitful research results and the debut of five academic books about the issue.
Dozens of art experts and scholars joined the seminar and exchanged views.
Since 1999, Pan Gongkai, president of the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, has been dedicated to exploring the relationship between Chinese art and modernity. He works with more than a dozen doctoral and post-doctoral students.
"Pan is an artist with a great sense of mission. The seminar is actually about his many years of academic research, his great achievements in art and art education," says Liu Dawei, president of the China Artists Association.
