Korean abstractions

( China Daily ) Updated: 2012-11-12 09:51:40

The possibility of parallel worlds has long been a wellspring for science fiction writers keen on exploring the nature of fate. For Singapore-based Korean artist Om Mee-ai, those worlds lie within her abstract oil paintings. In her solo exhibition, Parallel Universes, Om's signature abstract paintings in monochromatic hues appear soothingly tranquil. Yet the arduous process of repetitively taping, layering and wiping to create each piece makes the mini microcosms unrepeatable due to the unique circumstances involved in their creation.
