While addressing the opening of the exhibition, Carter recalled history of culture exchange between China and the United States over the past 35 years, saying cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries have laid a strong foundation for development of the bilateral relationship since the establishment of US-China diplomatic ties 35 years ago.
On the basis of mutual respect and understanding, exchanges in the fields of culture, education and history will play a more important and active role in promotion of bilateral relationship in the future, he said.
The exhibition is one of the activities organized under the 5th round of China-US High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange, which ended in Beijing last week. The exhibition will conclude Friday.
