New-energy buses put into operation in Zhuzhou

In Dec 2011, the Zhuzhou Municipal Bus Company announced the operation of their first batch of automatic parallel hybrid electric buses.

According to the testing, the new-energy bus moves through the crowded city with a powerful engine, effectively relieving labor intensity and reducing traffic accidents.

As a pilot city of the new-energy bus system supported by the Ministry of Science & Technology and the Ministry of Finance, Zhouzhou, managed to replace its previous 627 buses with the electronic or hybrid electric buses in September of 2011.

It is estimated that the new buses can lower average gasoline consumption by about 15 percent, leading to the reduction of 2 million liters of gasoline and almost 12,000 tons of harmful substances each year, including greenhouse gases.
