Five-day tour of Zhangjiajie, Huanglong Cave, Fenghuang Nine Scenes and Dehang

Route of travel:

First day: Take a bus to Zhangjiajie in the morning. After lunch, tour the Huanglong Cave known as an underground bright pearl. The cave is comprised of six scenic zones including the Labyrinth, Xiangshui River, Tianxian Water, Tianzhu Street and Dragon Palace. Visitors may go shopping in brand-name cutting tool shops, drink and buy tea in teashops. In the evening, they may, at their own expense, enjoy the large-scale Tujia ethnic song and dance evening party that lasts for two hours (160 yuan/person for team price).

Second day: After breakfast, tour the Purple Light Mountain for an hour. Then, go to Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan scenic spot. The tour of the Tianzi Mountain will reach the He Long Park at the peak of the mountain. The park is built in memory of Marshal He Long who fought in the mountain. It is the best site to observe the West Sea stone forest and the clouds around the Wuling summits. After that, take a traditional Chinese medicine footbath for approximately one hour to relieve any exhaustion from the journey. Before the Tianzi Mountain tour, visitors may take the highest outdoor sightseeing elevator in the world to tour the Yuanjiajie scenic spot, Yuanjia Village and works of Tujia ethnic group, at their own expense of 168 yuan/person. The tour lasts about three hours.

Third day: After breakfast, tour the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and stroll along the Golden Whip Stream (6.5km, about two and a half hours). The stream is named after the Golden Whip Rocks. It is reputed as the “most beautiful canyon in the world.” Ascending from the Huangshi Village it is the largest viewing platform, to appreciate the sceneries of Zhangjiajie. The landscapes include the Golden Tortoise in Fog Sea, Five-Finger Peak, Six-odd Pavilion, and the Pick-star Platform. Visitors may buy local specialties in the supermarket. In the afternoon, take a bus to Jishou.

Fourth day: After breakfast, go to the Fenghuang ancient town. It is known to be the most beautiful town to see the nine most famous scenes. This includes the Former Residence of Xiong Xiling, Former Residence of Shen Congwen, rafting in Tuojiang River, Ancestral Hall of the Yang’s and the museum of the ancient town. Tourists can also see the Tower over the East Gate, Longevity Palace, Chongde Hall, Hongqiao Art Building, Three King Temple, ancient defensive walls, gate towers and characteristic folk houses. Visitors may tour the Flagstone Street, taste ginger candy processed by the Liu’s in Fenghuang and visit silver ornamental shops. Tourists can explore the shops of Miao knives exclusively applied by emperors and the hanging houses of the Fenghuang town.

Fifth day: After breakfast, take a bus to Dehang and on the way, visit the Laodie Kiwi Fruit Technology enterprise in western Hunan. Enjoy a free song and dance performance and by 16:30, take the bus back to Changsha.
