Shanxi University ranked the seventh among 100 universities in the list of Chinese colleges' comprehensive achievements in 2015 sports competitions, released by People's Daily recently.
The list, which aimed at showcasing Chinese college students' competency in sports competitions with the expectation to popularize college sports, evaluated 438 universities who won awards in sports competitions last year from the perspective of competition achievements, public opinions, school teams' competency and new media.
According to Li Jianying, president of Physical Education School, Shanxi University won 39 gold, 17 silver and 19 bronze medals in previous years competitions including the world, national and provincial championships.
The university now has 20 sports clubs and 22 teams covering 14 sports categories, which is an evidence of its sports development.
