A volunteer team from Nanchang-based Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) worked as volunteer teachers in a remote town in Southwest China's Guizhou province, between Jan 11-23.

The team, consisting of 14 students, braved the cold and troublesome weather to teach local primary school students who are usually left in the care of grandparents whilst their parents are away from home, usually working in the cities.

They offered lessons ranging from general knowledge to practical skills, such as English, geography, history, music, dance, painting, manual skills, chess and verbal language skills.

After school, they accompanied the children on their way home and helped them with their winter vacation homework. The team also organized colorful activities, including games and parties, to cheer the children up.
