The Third Jiaohu Elite Football Match Concluded

The final of the Third “Xinyi Cup” and the First “Jiaorong Cup” Jiaohu Elite Football Match was hotly contested between the team of the foreign students and the team of Business Administration School at our university, which were cheered on by a great number of football enthusiasts of faculty and students at the scene, in the afternoon of December 8th. The two teams were tied at 2:2 during the regular time, and the team of the foreign students ultimately carried the day against the rival in the penalty shootout.

After nearly a month of the fierce group stage matches and the elimination matches, the event came to a close with a flourish, with the team of the foreign students, the team of Business Administration School and the team of faculty at the first, the second and third places respectively. The workers in charge of the University’s United Front Work Department, the School’s Communist Youth League, the Trade Union, the International Cooperation and Exchange Office and the Business Administration School watched the final and presented the prizes to the winners at the first, second and third places.

The event is hosted by the United Front Work Department, the School’s Communist Youth League, the Trade Union, the Propaganda Department and the Sports College and organized by the Football Association. The team is composed of the top eight teams of the Department Cup match in 2016 and the faculty team. Themed on “Xinyi Football Blends You and Me”, this event is arranged to implement our university’s theme activity of the national unity and progress among the students from Xinjiang and to encourage the minority students, especially students from Xinjiang, to participate in the event. With at least three members of the ethnic minorities for each participating team from the schools, this event is aimed at promoting the school motto of “faith, astuteness, incorruptibility, and resolve”, highlighting the “blended” element of the national unity and progress, as well as promoting the physical and mental health and the perseverance of the teachers and students through the football sport. At the same time, it selects the elite reserve members for the football team. As the continuation of the wonderful “Department Cup” football league matches in the first half of the year, it will become the regular match for the football fans of our university in the second half of the year.

In the event, Liu Feng and Baga were rated as the best shooters. Luobu Ciren, Mohan, Zhao Hanming and Du Siyang were rated as the best players. Hou Jiabo, Ye Zailiang, Liu Jixing, Wang Lidong, Huang Wenhui, Shi Qingsheng and Cheng Rui won the award for the sportsmanship. Liang Tingyu, Muer Zhati, Abu Laiti, Wang Peixuan, Arafat, Baihetiyaer, and Ye Zhiyu were awarded the prize for the national unity and progress. In addition, this event has promoted the building of the competitive sports culture at the university, and created a good environment for the happy sports, the earnest learning, and the integration and the mutual trust, to the great love of the teachers and students of various ethnic groups who are football enthusiasts.
