NPU continues to devote towards talents cultivation

Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) will continue to contribute to Xi’an’s development through improving its talents cultivation and education resources, the President said at the 80th anniversary on Oct 13.

More than 4,500 officials, representatives of universities and schoolfellows at home and abroad, as well as teachers and students at the University attended the event.

NPU, the only multidisciplinary and research-oriented school in China, has multiple education and research programs in various fields such as aeronautics, astronautics, and marine technology engineering.

Located in the historic city of Xi'an, Shaanxi province in Northwest China, NPU adheres to its motto of "Loyalty, Integrity, Courage and Perseverance" and carries the spirit of "Strong Preparation, Diligent Effort, Practical Attitude, and Creative Innovation".

At the anniversary, the University’s President Wang Jinsong said NPU has focused on talents cultivation and encouraged its students to make contributions to China’s science and education development.

"The university will continue to make efforts to cultivate first-class talents and train talents to support the nation’s development," Wang added.

Li Hejun, a professor at the Institute of Materials of NPU who was selected as one of the best scientists in China in 2018, expressed his sense of pride to be a NPU member and stressed the fine tradition of the university -- loving and cherishing talents, educating talents for the country, and the academic spirit -- rigorous and realistic, excellence.

Yang Wei, deputy general manager of China Aviation Industry Group and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences shared his school life and said "in the coming days, we will spare no effort to build and develop our alma mater, help our alma mater to cultivate high-level talents, produce high-level achievements, and contribute to the cause of our alma mater."

Colin Bailey, president of Queen Mary University of London which launched the QMES, an engineering school with NPU, said NPU is not only highly reputed in China, but also has a certain influence in the world's leading scientific research fields and higher education. Therefore, NPU is a strategic partner of Queen Mary University of London.

He also showed his willingness to witness more cooperation in talents cultivation.

Hu Heping, governor of Shaanxi province, affirmed NPU’s achievements in innovation and talents cultivation.

Many talents that have graduated from NPU have made contributions in fields of higher education, national defense and modern construction. Their contributions has also played an important role to the sustainable and healthy development of Shaanxi province's economy and society, he explained.

He also stressed that the government will continue to support universities and colleges like NPU to build better learning environment and obtain richer education resources to foster talents.
