The healthy advancement of Sino-US relations is in the interests of the two peoples, President Jiang Zemin told Steve Van Andel, chairman of the board of the United States Chamber of Commerce yesterday.

Jiang said China's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) would provide opportunities to further Sino-US economic and trade relations.

Van Andel said his chamber and US business circles support China's WTO accession and are ready to further the already good co-operative economic and trade ties with China, as WTO entry would serve to enhance this relationship in a more extensive and in-depth way.

Van Andel is in China as the guest of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
