You have the right to remain silent

Students in Changsha No. 1 Middle School in Hunan Province may remain silent if they do not know how to answer teachers' questions, according to a report in the New Express News .

The rule was introduced to reduce pressure on students.

Teachers are also not allowed to order students to leave classes as punishment, and students who live far away from the school are allowed to arrive a bit late than others.

ZHEJIANG

Free admission to mark Museum Day

All 33 museums in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang Province, will be open to the public free of charge on Friday, the International Museum Day, sina.com reported.

The Natural Museum will display its dinosaur egg fossils, the Zhang Xiaoquan Scissors Museum will exhibit its rare collection, including 10 gram pair of mini-scissors and a 25 kilogram pair of giant scissors.

Experts will be invited to the museums to lecture or help introduce displays to visitors.

Heart, kidney transplant patient in recovery

A farmer named Song Shuihong, 46, is recovering from his heart and kidney transplant 10 days ago in Yuhang, Zhejiang Province, Guangzhou Daily reported .

Song is still in a critical stage and is being fed by intravenous drips.

This is the first transplant case for two major organs in the province.

The operation lasted more than five hours.

HAINAN

State research unit found selling fake seeds

A State-owned scientific research institute was found selling fake seeds to local farmers in Hainan Province, sina.com reported yesterday.

Workers at the Hainan Rice Research Institute of the Provincial Academy of Science were caught selling more than 108 kilograms of fake maize seeds to local farmers during a surprise inspection on Wednesday.

Local police and industrial and commercial departments organized the raid after receiving complaints from local farmers.

The director of the institute has been detained for questioning.

GUANGXI

Suspect cowering in drug rehab centre

A criminal suspect was picked up from a drug rehabilitation centre, where he tried to hide from a police hunt, in Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, according to sina.com.

The suspect, surnamed Liao, was a Xi'an resident. He escaped to Liuzhou and stayed in a rehabilitation centre when he learned he was wanted by the police.

Liuzhou police, tipped by local residents, caught Liao on May 3.

County official jailed for killing monkey

An county-level official was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison for eating a protected animal in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Southern Metropolis News reported.

Li Hongrao was assistant county magistrate and director of the Forest Bureau of Longhui County.
