Yahtour.com champions e-tourism The Internet bubble have burst. Nasdaq has been by and large falling. Many websites are finding themselves deep in the red, if not, like some, dead and gone. The same, however, cannot be said of yahtour.com, a flourishing web portal touting the e-model for travel and tourism. At a meeting grouping major tourist agencies in China, held in Southwest China's Chengdu on June 21, yatour.com signed fifteen contracts with provincial travel bureaux as well as travel agencies. Under the contracts, Yahtour.com, a site launched by National Tourism Administration, will help them build websites and provide such free services as BBS, member registration system and e-mail marketing platform. The National Tourism Administration put forward the Golden Trip Project earlier this year to help domestic travel agencies get online to conduct business in accordance with international practices. Officials say the move aims to brace the tourist industry for China's entry into the World Trade Organization. Up to now, one third of provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China have signed co-operation deals with yahtour.com.
