Pop star Mariah Carey checks out of hospital Pop singer Mariah Carey has checked out of the hospital where she was recovering after suffering a nervous breakdown two weeks ago, her spokeswoman said Wednesday. Carey, 31, one of the most successful woman solo singers with more than a dozen No. 1 singles, was admitted to a New York-area hospital July 25. Her spokeswoman Cindi Berger said Carey had an ``emotional and physical breakdown.'' In a statement Wednesday announcing the star's discharge from the hospital, Berger said: ``Mariah is feeling better. She is resting under a doctor's care at an undisclosed location with her mother.'' Carey canceled all public appearances after her breakdown, including her headline role at the Aug. 1 show celebrating the 20th anniversary of MTV. In recent months, Carey filmed two movies, ``Glitter'' and ''Wise Girls.'' She also wrote, recorded and produced her newest album, the soundtrack to ``Glitter,'' which is due for release on Aug. 21. Carey's single ``Loverboy'' hit the number one slot on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop singles chart and number two on its Hot 100 after 180,000 singles were sold in its first week of retail release.
