Madonna T-shirt expected to fetch 10,000 pounds A diamante-studded T-shirt worn by US-pop idol Madonna during her Drowned World Tour is expected to fetch up to 10,000 pounds when it goes under the hammer for a children's charity next week. The Catherine Malandrino design, signed by the diva, will be among the 60-lot sale taking place at Christie's auction house on October 22. The organisers hope to raise 100,000 pounds (US$145,000, 159,000 euros) for Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood (Clic) to provide free accommodation in London for families with children undergoing treatment. "We are very excited by the generosity of many celebrities and we hope that the sale will raise a lot of money for the children and their parents because that is what we're here for," Clic director Judith Pleasance said. Other memorabilia to be donated by celebrities from the music, fashion and sports worlds include a black diamante suit owned by Sir Elton John, a green embroidered dress designed and worn to the 2001 Oscars ceremony by Donatella Versace and a Harley Davidson motorbike once riden by Formula One Team Owner Eddie Jordan. |
