Menu of Jiang's banquet for Bush
( 2001-10-20 09:27 ) (8 )

China is known for its mouth-watering food. The menu of the lunch Chinese President Jiang Zemin hosted for US President Gorge W. Bush Friday demonstrates both delicacy and nutrition that the Chinese cuisine features.

In addition to hors d'oeuvres, there were four hot dishes including shark's fin with wonton, mango-flavored fried lobster, beef steak in barbecue sauce, and vegetable. The dessert was Huai-yang dim sum, followed by ice cream with cheese.

According to sources at the venue of the banquet, the Xijiao Guesthouse in the western suburbs of Shanghai, the menu was carefully designed and prepared by a group of chefs led by the general manager of the hotel.

The menu included food both with typical Chinese style and to the taste of the American guests, the sources said.
