FM spokesman refutes US official's talk of "China threat"

The advocacy of the so-called China threat is groundless and fruitless, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi on Wednesday.

It has been reported recently that Dennis Blair, commander-in-chief of the Pacific Command of the United States Armed Forces, said that the military forces of most Asia-Pacific countries are defensive, but those of some countries including China are aggressive and that China targets Taiwan.

It has been acknowledged fact that China is an important nation in maintaining peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and the world, said Sun.

He said that the Chinese government's stance on the Taiwan issue is consistent.

He added that the US is expected to observe the One-China policy and the principles of the three Sino-US joint communiques, as well as to properly settle the Taiwan issue to help the healthy and stable development of Sino-US relations.
