Chinese President Jiang Zemin left Hanover for Tripoli, Libya, on Saturday morning at the end of a six-day state visit to Germany.

During his stay in Germany, Jiang held talks with German President Johnannes Rau and Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and the two leaders reached consensus on a wide range of bilateral and international issues.

Jiang also delivered a speech at the German Society for Foreign Policies in which he elaborated on China's positions on international affairs and the Sino-European relations.

Besides meeting with political and economic celebrities in Berlin, Jiang also visited the states of Sachsen and Niedersachsen.

Germany is the first leg of Jiang's two-week five-nation trip, which will also take him to Libya, Nigeria, Tunisia and Iran.
