()
04/18/2002
About 50,000 women between 40 and their retirement age of 55 years and men between 50 and their retirement age of 60 years are likely to benefit from a government-aid placement programme this year, reports Jiefang Daily.

The programme offers tax breaks and other preferential treatment to companies that hire such laid-off workers.

The Shanghai Labour and Social Security Bureau has began taking applications for positions in 98 profitable companies, including convenience stores, cafes, laundries and beauty salons.
