'Wind alert' calls for safety measures

Haidian District has issued a "wind alert", reminding companies and institutions to secure their billboards, trees and other outdoor objects, reports Beijing Morning Post.

Gales with a wind force of 4 to 6, accompanied by a sandstorm, lashed the city on Tuesday.

Several trees in downtown areas were uprooted or broken, disrupting power supply to neighbourhoods.
