Cosmetic company tops Asian survey
( 2002-05-23 11:03 ) (1 )

The May issue of the Reader's Digest Asia edition announced that Avon Products had received a platinum award for being the top cosmetics brand in Asia in the magazine's fourth annual SuperBrands survey.

The award marks the first time Avon Products had achieved this status across all the Asian markets surveyed: Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

Bennett R. Gallina, senior vice-president of Avon Asia-Pacific, said: "We are very gratified that the consumers of Asia have rated Avon's cosmetics so highly."

"Avon continually strives to produce products that not only meet but exceed the expectations of our consumers, so we could not be more delighted with this honour."

Reader's Digest Asia has conducted its SuperBrands survey since 1999.

The survey seeks to identify brands that are the most appealing to Asian consumers across 37 categories from lifestyle products to household goods. Avon has appeared on this list since its launch and received its first platinum award in 2001 for its performance in the Malaysian and Philippine markets.

To achieve SuperBrands status, a brand needs a high level of consumer awareness plus outstanding performance in five key attributes: quality, value, trustworthiness, strong image and understanding of consumer needs.

The survey was carried out by randomly inserting questionnaires in subscription copies of the October 2001 issue. Over 3,000 consumers took part in the survey.
