Narong Arjariyakul, deputy permanent secretary for transport and communications of Thailand, who was also the chairman of the meeting, was quoted as saying that the proposed land transport link would facilitate cross border visits and cargo transport among the three countries. The Representatives of the three countries would hold the next meeting in Laos in September to further discuss the initiative, he disclosed, adding that the three countries were expected to conclude an agreement on the land transport link next year.
