Wang Wei: Beijing Olympic Games to attract more youngsters

The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) has proposed to relocate four competition venues for five Olympic events in four Chinese universities to encourage more youngsters and youth to participate in the Olympic movement and sports.

BOCOG Vice President Wang Wei, who is now in Prague for the IOC Executive Board (EB) Meetings and 115th Session, made the proposal on June 30 when briefing the EB members on the recent developments in the preparation for the Beijing Olympic Games.

Wang told reporters in Prague that BOCOG is now in consultation with relevant international sports federations about the relocation of the venues.

WangĄ¯s presentation also covers venue construction, urban construction, marketing, media and communications, organization of competitions, environment and Games services. He answered questions raised by the EB members.
