China levies anti-dumping duty on ROK, Japanese art paper ( 2003-08-06 16:21) (Xinhua)
China begins to levy anti-dumping duties on imported coated art paper
produced in the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Japan Wednesday for a term of five
years, the Ministry of Commerce announced.
Importers of the product originated from the two countries will have to pay
duty ranging from 4 percent to 71 percent.
The decision is the final verdict on the anti-dumping measures, says the
ministry announcement. A preliminary verdict was made last November.
A Ministry of Commerce investigation found the Chinese art paper industry
suffered substantially because of dumping by the two countries.
Meanwhile, an anti-dumping investigation against imports of coated art paper
produced in the United States and Finland was canceled and no measures were
taken after it found these products were less than 3 percent of the total
imports.
Coated art paper is mainly used for publishing color pictorials,
advertisements and packaging.
