On the occasion of the PLA's 76 anniversary, PLA veteran Liu Kunzhou was awarded the title of "National Model Demobilized Cadre" by the State Council's Demobilized Cadre Placement Working Group, the Organization Department and the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, the Ministry of Personnel and the PLA General Political Department. These organizations called on all cadres, especially demobilized cadres, to learn from him.

Liu is Chairman of the board and General Manager of the Shandong Weifang Kunzhou Chinese Herbal Medicine Development Co., Ltd. He joined the PLA and became a member of the CPC later in 1968. He was commended many times in the PLA. In 1980, he was demobilized and began his work as associate public procurator at Yuanwei County Procuratorate, Shandong Province. Then he was transferred to the Commerce Bureau of Fangzi District, Weifang City, Shandong Province. In 1994 he became Party branch secretary and deputy manager of Taifeng Chicken Co., Ltd. Then, in 1997 he was laid off by his company. During his 5 laid-off years, he didn't lose　courage and with the help and care from his superiors, he　contracted a wasteland to plant medicinal herbs. After his successful launch of his business, he employed laid-off workers and lead them to develop production and embark on the road of common prosperity.
