Recent immigrant from China found murdered in Melrose Park

Police found the body of Xue
Chen lying beside his bicycle on a street in Melrose Park in South
Florida early Tuesday. His wallet was still in his pocket, with cash
inside. Chen, 34, had been shot in the head.
"At this point we do not know the motive of the shooting," Detective Mike
Reed said. "Everything that was supposed to be there was there."
Chen was a cook at the Jing Jing Buffet, a Chinese restaurant in the Twin
Oaks Plaza on Davie Boulevard. Friends and co-workers said he arrived in South
Florida a few months ago to work in the restaurant and had not yet learned
English. His plan was to earn enough money to bring his wife and two children
here from China, they said.
He worked three or four days a week and would have worked more if not for
health problems, said Vicky Chen, who worked with him at the restaurant and is
not related.
