Police involvement makes love sweeter ( 2003-08-08 13:38) (China Daily) A woman who met her boyfriend after she misdialled
a cellphone number and was reported to police as a possible con woman has
decided to get married - less than a month after the incident occurred, reports
New Express News.
Yang Jinhua, who lives in Yangjiang, Guangdong Province, thought she was
sending a mobile phone short message to a friend on July 9. But she received a
reply from Min Jifei, an Anhui native working in Guangzhou, instead.
In the course of a phone conversation soon after, they both sensed a romantic
attraction developing.
When Min invited Yang to visit him a few days later, the cautious young woman
asked him to wire 100 yuan (US$12) to her bank account for travelling expenses
in an attempt to ascertain whether Min was sincere.
Concerned that Yang might be trying to defraud him, Min called Yangjiang
police to check if she was a known trickster. "I was really upset then. It was
no joke having to prove my innocence to the police," Yang said.
Once their mutual intentions were made clear, the incident only served to
build trust between the couple. They plan to marry by the end of the
month.
