Hillary's autobiography sells like hot cakes ( 2003-08-12 08:51) (China Daily)
The Chinese language edition of former US First Lady Hillary Clinton's
autobiography "Living History" has been selling like hot cakes across China
since it was published by the Nanjing-based Yilin Press on August 1.
In its first three days on the shelves, 1,850 copies of the book - which has
a print run of 100,000 - were sold at Beijing's Xidan Bookstore, a record figure
for biographies.
Yilin Press negotiated the copyright of the book's Chinese language edition
in April last year and finished the translation 40 days after the English
edition was published in the United States on June 9.
"Our purpose in translating the book is to give Chinese readers a chance to
learn more about contemporary US society, culture and politics since, in the
book, Hillary gives a quite comprehensive account of US foreign affairs, social
and political events during Bill Clinton's administration," said Yilin Press
President Zhang Zude.
He also said that Hillary Clinton could be a role model for people,
especially women, who are trying to achieve success in both work and
life.
