A self-described tomboy from Oregon was crowned Misss Teen USA 2003 Tuesday night.

Tami Nichole Farrell
Tami Nichole Farrell of Phoenix, Oregon, who said her proudest moment was hitting a game-winning home run while playing on her town's formerly all-boy baseball team, defeated 50 other contestants.

The first runner-up was Alicia Selby, Miss Tennessee.

Farrell, 18, won a year of rent-free living in New York City, a tiara valued at $17,500, and cash and other prizes.

She hopes to earn a college degree in liberal arts and pursue a career in acting and modeling.

Entrants from Oregon also won the pageant in 1988 and 1990. No other state has captured the title more than once.
